POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting a Handyman to work the Day shift at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).  The Handyman ensures the smooth operation and upkeep of our facilities by performing diverse tasks, including carpentry, finishing, and general maintenance. This role requires an individual capable of handling repairs, minor plumbing, and electrical work efficiently while adhering to high-quality standards and safety regulations. Please note this is a 2-month contract position.
Shift 5:50-4:20 (4 days/week,10 hours/day). Overtime is as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as a handyman, carpenter, or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of carpentry, finishing, and general maintenance techniques.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; relevant certifications are a plus.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Capability to perform physical tasks and work in various environmental conditions.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

REPAIR & MAINTENANCE (Weighting 80%)

General Repair Duties

  • Fix various types of damage and wear-and-tear in buildings and facilities.
  • Handle basic woodworking tasks including building and repairing wooden structures
  • Address urgent repair needs promptly.

Finishing Tasks

  • Complete tasks related to painting, staining, and adding finishing touches to surfaces.
  • Support small-scale construction and renovation projects as needed.

OPERATIONAL TASKS (Weighting 20%)

Resource and Record Management

  • Ensure that tools and equipment are in good working condition and properly maintained.
  • Track and manage tools, materials, and supplies for ongoing and upcoming tasks.
  • Keep records of completed tasks and any additional recommendations for future maintenance.

Compliance

  • Communicate with clients to understand their needs and provide effective solutions.
  • Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a safe working environment..
