CNC Pipe Profiler Programmer/Operator

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting a CNC Pipe Profiler Operator/Programmer to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).  The CNC Programmer / Operator will work with our HGG Pipe profiler  which cuts  raw pipe materials into  Spools and Pressure vessel/Exchanger shells. This individual will be responsible for interpreting project blueprints, designing programs and setting up machines to produce the components outlined in the program.  The CNC Programmer/Operator is also charged with performing machine maintenance and cleaning.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

MATERIAL HANDLING & MACHINING (Weighting 60%)

Programming & Setup

  • Read technical drawings, ability to produce DXF and STP files.
  • Use computer software Mastercam and ProCAM to model cutting paths and program machines accordingly.
  • Consider tools required to cut materials and program machines accordingly.
  • Set up CNC machines including selecting cutting tools, fixtures, and machine parameter to ensure efficient and accurate production processes.

Optimization of Processes

  • Adjust machine cutting paths or settings to optimize production while maintaining quality.
  • Collaborate with Design and Production to build out schedules for machines, and drive efficiencies.
  • Continuously analyze and optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce cycle times, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Implement best practices for tooling, speeds, feeds, and machining strategies to achieve quality and cost targets.

MATERIAL HANDLING & MACHINING (Weighting 30%)

Quality Assurance

  • Perform quality assurance tests to ensure products meet design specifications
  • Conduct thorough checks of CNC programs and machine setups to ensure adherence to quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform first-article inspections and in-process inspections to verify dimensional accuracy and surface finish of machined parts.

Troubleshooting & Maintenance

  • Troubleshoot CNC programming and machining issues to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to perform preventive maintenance tasks on CNC machines to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
 

MAVERICK MINDSET (Weighting 10%)

Training & Development

  • Provide training and guidance to machine operators and junior programmers on CNC programming techniques, machine operation, and safety protocols.
  • Stay updated on advancements in CNC technology and machining practices through continuous learning and professional development

Safety & Compliance

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulates to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
  • Follow established procedure for hazardous material handling, machine guarding, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing or industrial setting is required.
  • Experience with Plasma cutting equipment.
  • Experience with Mastercam
  • Experience with Procam would be considered an asset.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
  • Familiarity and skill with interpreting technical drawings and blueprints
  • Skilled at troubleshooting and resolving mechanical or logistical problems that arise.
  • Ability to work independently and closely follow directions is essential.
  • Maintain a positive and professional attitude.
  • This position requires hands on operation of the Profiler along with material handling and processing.
