POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec is currently recruiting an Account Manager to work at our Calgary Shepard Office location (9423 Shepard Road SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).  The Account Manager will play a crucial role in steering the growth and innovation of our product lines in a fast-paced environment, targeting oil & gas clients in Western Canada. This role encompasses a comprehensive management of the sales cycle, from generating leads and understanding client needs to providing tailored solutions, quotes, and robust after-sales support. The Account Manager will also coordinate closely with different internal teams to ensure flawless production and delivery of products.
A profound comprehension of the market and the unique needs and concerns of clients is crucial for the Account Manager. The role demands strong communication skills, a solid technical foundation, and a collaborative spirit, as the Account Manager will provide vital technical insights for product design and functionality and work cross-functionally to ensure a smooth and satisfying client experience. This role is expected to be an active proponent of continuous improvement within Startec, contributing to the cultivation of innovative solutions and practices that enhance client satisfaction and align with organizational goals.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

SALES PROCESS MANAGEMENT (Weighting 60%)

End-to-End Sales Process Management

  • Oversee all stages of the sales cycles, from initial client engagement to closing the sale.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams, including product development, manufacturing, and deliver, to ensure a smooth and integrated sales process.

New Business Opportunities & Proposal Development

  • Proactively seek out potential clients and business opportunities to expand the customer base.
  • Schedule and conduct sales visits with potential and existing clients to understand their needs and present Startec’s solution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients to ensure their ongoing and future needs are met.
  • Ensure that all proposals are financially viable, technically feasible, and aligned with Startec’s strategic objectives.
  • Present proposals to clients in a clear and compelling manner, addressing any questions or concerns they may have.

Client Relationship Management & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Actively work to build rapport and establish trust with clients, understanding their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.
  • Collaborate effectively with internal teams to ensure client expectations are met and any issues are promptly resolved.
  • Maintain open and effective communication channels with clients, ensuring they are kept informed and feel valued.
  • Foster strong interdepartmental relationships to ensure seamless collaboration and communication, aiming to enhance overall client satisfaction.
  • Leverage the expertise and resources of various departments within Startec to deliver comprehensive and value-added solutions to clients.

Pre-Sales, Post-Sales & After-Sales Troubleshooting

  • Offer comprehensive support to clients before, during, and after a purchase, ensuring they have all the information and assistance they need.
  • Work closely with the technical and product development teams to ensure any product issues are quickly address and resolved.

Client & Sales Pipeline Data Management

  • Work with the finance and customer service teams to swiftly resolve any issues related to invoicing or payments, ensuring client satisfaction is maintained.
  • Utilize CRM systems and other tools to track and manage all sales opportunities and client interactions.

PRODICT & STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT (Weighting 15%)

Strategy Development

  • Actively participate in product development initiatives, ensuring that new and existing products are in line with current market demands and trends.

Marketing & Sales Strategy Support

  • Collaborate with sales and marketing, and pricing teams to develop effective strategies that will drive sales and market penetration.
  • Provide insights into market dynamics, competitive landscape, and customer preferences to inform pricing and positioning strategies.

MARKET & PRIDCT ANALYSIS (Weighting 15%)

Networking Representation & Market Research

  • Represent Startec at events, showcasing the company's product, services, and value proposition to potential clients and partners.
  • Collect information on competitor activities, emerging technologies, and industry innovations to keep Startec ahead of the curve.
  • Engage with clients and attend industry events to stay informed about their evolving needs and expectations.

Market Analysis Reporting

  • Share insights and finding from market analysis with relevant teams and stakeholders within Startec, ensuring they are aware of external factors that could impact the business.
SALES SUPPORT & ADMINISTRATION (Weighting 10%)

Contract Negotiations & Deal Closures

  • Help to develop and present compelling proposals and presentations that align with client needs and showcase the value of Startec’s products and services.
  • Ensure that all contractual terms are clear, fair, and in the best interest of both Startec and the client.

Sales Reporting & Marketing Documentation

  • Regularly compile and analyze sales data, generating comprehensive reports that provide insights into sales performance, market trends, and potential areas of improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering degree or technical designation with oil & gas industry related experience is an asset.
  • 5+ years experience of selling within a technical sector to businesses.
  • A demonstrable track record of achieving sales targets and ability to prospect for new clients.
  • The ability to work as part of the team and develop good working relationships at all levels within the organization.
  • Logical thinker who can recognize opportunities for creating new business sales and improving customer services.
  • Previous supervisory experience of Project Managers/Engineer and Designers would be considered an asset.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint) is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills that promote long-term mutually beneficial relationships with all stakeholders. Exceptional ability to positively influence, negotiate and mange conflict.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for customer events, trade shows, and as required and necessary to promote Startec’s products and services.
