LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT

Collaboration

• Assist Journeyperson Refrigeration Mechanics and team members with installation, maintenance, and repair tasks.
• Contribute to team efforts by helping with various mechanical tasks, learning on the job, and applying instruction

Knowledge Acquisition

• Participate in on-the-job training, gaining experience in refrigeration system components, electrical systems, and general maintenance tasks.
• Observe and assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting common issues in refrigeration systems.
• Take part in formal training sessions or certifications to enhance technical skills and knowledge in refrigeration.

Professional Development

• Demonstrate a strong willingness to learn from senior mechanics and apply new skills to daily tasks.
• Show commitment to punctuality, dependability, and a positive attitude toward the apprenticeship program.
• Be open to feedback and use it to improve your skills and understanding of refrigeration mechanics.

Safety and Workplace Adherence

• Follow all Startec safety protocols and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
• Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensure proper handling of tools and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and materials are safely stored.

• Registered with Apprenticeship Industry Training (AIT) as a first-year apprentice (Refrigeration)
• Basic computer skills required (MS Office Applications)
• Class A Gas Fitting is an asset
• Strong customer service and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
• Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team.
• Willingness to learn and develop technical skills through on-the-job training.
• Class 5 Driver’s License with a clean Driver's Abstract
• Ability to work independently and on-call.
• Ability to work out of town. Travel and overnight stays may be required from time to time.
